What are the common pests and diseases in jasmine cultivation?
What pests and diseases affect jasmine? How to control them well? Please advise. What pests and diseases affect jasmine? How to control them well? Please adviseThe common pests and diseases of jasmine mainly include southern blight, Chaff scale, and cotton aphid. The following methods can be used for control:
1. Southern blight:During the plum rain season, it easily occurs at the base of jasmine near the soil surface in the pot. Initially, it appears as water-soaked brown irregular lesions, with the cortex becoming soft and rotten, soon producing white silky mycelium, and finally turning into yellow-brown sclerotia of varying sizes. Control methods: ① Do not water too much; avoid waterlogging in the pot soil; ② In severe cases, replace the soil; normally replace the soil once a year, or disinfect the soil; ③ Prune diseased branches or spray 50% carbendazim wettable powder at 500 times dilution in the early stage of the disease.
2. Chaff scale:Nymphs or adults gather on the underside of leaves and shaded areas of branches, sucking leaf sap. In severe cases, they cause flowers, branches, and leaves to wither and induce sooty mold. Control methods: ① Prune infested branches, burn them centrally, and maintain ventilation; ② During the nymph stage, spray 50% malathion emulsion at 1000 times dilution every 10-15 days, with 2-3 consecutive sprays giving better results.
3. Cotton aphid:The damage symptoms are roughly the same as those of Chaff scale, concentrated on tender parts of branches and leaves. For control, spray 50% mieyaling at 1500 times dilution.
