Jasmine blooms continuously from summer to autumn, with July to August being the peak flowering period, when the flowers are large, fragrant, and numerous. Strengthening flowering-period management, doing a good job controlling "water, fertilizer, and light," pruning appropriately, and preventing and controlling pests and diseases well are the key to making jasmine produce more flowers and fragrance. The following methods for managing the jasmine flowering period are provided for reference:

         1. Water frequently. Jasmine likes a moist environment, and during its flowering period, watering becomes even more important. Because summer temperatures are relatively high and the plant transpires heavily, sufficient water should be given. Water thoroughly once each in the morning and evening, and also spray the plant's leaves and the area around the pot with clean water once each in the morning and afternoon to increase air humidity. Note, however, that on cloudy and rainy days you should water less or not at all, and on rainy days you should also avoid rain exposure to prevent water from accumulating in the pot.

         2. Fertilize heavily. During the flowering period, jasmine likes heavy water and heavy fertilizer. A liquid fertilizer rich in nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium can be applied once a week. If it can be used alternately with alum fertilizer water, the effect is even better. This not only balances the plant's nutrition, making the leaves green and thick and the flowers large and fragrant, but also effectively prevents the occurrence of chlorosis in the plant.

        3. Partial shade. Jasmine likes light. Insufficient light easily makes the plant's branches slender and the leaves yellow, but when light is too strong, appropriate shading is also needed; otherwise the leaves are easily burned by sunlight. Jasmine can be placed in a semi-shaded spot, allowing it to receive light only before 9 a.m. and after 5 p.m.

         4. Prune skillfully. Jasmine blooms on new branches, so during its flowering period pruning should be strengthened, with special attention to pinching. Branches that have already bloomed should also be cut short in time to promote more side branches and more flower buds.

         5. Prevent pests and diseases. In summer, jasmine is harmed by scale insects, red spider mites, and aphids. If they occur, when their numbers are small they can be caught by hand; when their numbers are large, 40% omethoate emulsifiable concentrate at 1000 times dilution can be sprayed to kill scale insects and aphids, and 20% dicofol emulsifiable concentrate at 1000 times dilution can be sprayed to kill red spider mites. In summer, jasmine is also susceptible to leaf spot disease, and when it occurs, 75% chlorothalonil at 800 times dilution can be sprayed for control.
