Ginkgo is a tree species that likes fertilizer and is tolerant of fertilizer. The fertilization method should determine the timing, amount and frequency of fertilization according to the growth condition of the ginkgo tree, with 3-4 fertilizations throughout the year; for detailed fertilization methods, please refer to the following list:

         1. Spring fertilization method for ginkgo trees:For young trees or adult fruiting trees in an off year, fertilizer should be applied 1 month before Grain Rain, which can increase the fruit-setting rate. If it is a large adult tree, fertilizer should be applied half a month after Grain Rain, which can appropriately reduce the fruit load.
Fertilization should be mainly quick-acting fertilizer, supplemented by organic fertilizer. Generally, a tree bearing 50 kg needs 200 kg of human manure and urine fertilizer; if chemical fertilizer is applied, nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizer is best, applying 2.5-5 kg per plant, more for large trees and appropriately less for small trees.

         2. Summer fertilization method for ginkgo trees:Apply in early July, the earlier the better. This period is when the fruit grows, the root system grows vigorously, and flower buds differentiate. Whether nutrients can be supplied in time is related not only to the yield level of that year, but also to flower bud formation and the yield of the second year.
For fruit-growing fertilizer, quick-acting fertilizer is better. Each tree can be watered with 0.5 kg of urea, and it must be diluted with water and poured, with the concentration controlled at about 0.1%, and absolutely not exceeding 0.2%. Because it is a high-temperature and dry season at that time, it is generally not suitable to apply by trenching, because trenching will cut the absorbing roots of the ginkgo tree and cause serious fruit drop. Attention must also be paid to the concentration of fertilization, as too high a concentration can easily cause fertilizer damage. If continuous dry weather occurs after fertilization, appropriate watering should also be carried out.

         3. Autumn fertilization method for ginkgo trees:Ginkgo seeds generally mature and are harvested from late September to early-to-mid October, and there are still 1-2 months of growing season before leaf fall. After ginkgo seeds are harvested, the second growth peak of the root system can generally be seen, and the flower buds already conceived also continue to develop. Therefore, fertilization after harvest can make up for the nutrients consumed by the tree's fruiting, restore tree vigor, and ensure a bumper harvest the next year.
Applying fertilizer before the root growth peak also gives relatively high fertilizer absorption and utilization rate. For nourishing the tree, farmyard manure is best, and application by trenching is better. The trenching direction and depth can be appropriately changed. At this time, even if part of the root system is cut, it will not affect the plant's growth and fruiting. For the fertilization amount, livestock pen manure can be heavily applied at 3-4 times the usual annual yield, that is, a plant producing 100 kg of ginkgo nuts can be given 300-400 kg of livestock pen manure.

         4. Winter fertilization method for ginkgo trees:Around the Spring Festival each year, deep trenches should be opened and base fertilizer should be heavily applied once. For base fertilizer, soil-and-miscellaneous manure and cake fertilizer are ideal fertilizers. For ginkgo trees that have been fully supplied with tree-nourishing fertilizer, base fertilizer can also be applied lightly or even not applied at this time.
