       The common diseases of calla lilies include soft rot, leaf spot, and mosaic virus. Zhongdiwang has compiled the damage and control methods for these diseases, listed below for netizens' reference.

  1. Damage caused by calla lily soft rot:During the growing period of calla lilies, soft rot and separation occur near the soil surface, and extending upward it causes leaf edges to become soft, wet-rot and wilt, flowers to turn brown, and pedicels to become soft-rot and drop off; extending downward it causes tubers to become slimy and soft-rotted, roots to rot, and even the plant to wilt and die.

  Control methods for calla lily soft rot:
Method 1: At harvest time, remove diseased bulbs, soak them in a 55-fold dilution of 40% formaldehyde for 1 hour, then dry and store them;
Method 2: When planting, the depth should not exceed 5 cm, and avoid overwatering;
Method 3: When diseased plants are found, remove and burn them promptly, and disinfect the soil around the diseased plants with a 40-fold dilution of 40% formaldehyde.

  2. Damage caused by calla lily leaf spot:Leaf spot is generally caused by 3 types of fungi, with Phyllosticta being the most common. In the early stage of the disease, small, nearly round, grayish-white spots appear on calla lily leaves, which later gradually expand and merge into irregular large rotten patches, sometimes also affecting flowers and pedicels.

  Control methods for leaf spot:
Method 1: Remove diseased leaves promptly when found, and spray with a 1000-1500 fold dilution of 25% propiconazole emulsifiable concentrate or a 500-fold dilution of 80% Daconil once every 1 week, for 2-3 consecutive times;
   Method 2: During routine care, avoid watering too much.

  3. Damage caused by calla lily mosaic virus:Calla lily leaves and flowers become smaller, twisted, and deformed. Chlorotic ring spots or stripes appear near the veins, and leaves become distorted; white spots appear on pedicels, light-colored spots appear on flower buds, and flowers become deformed.

  Control methods for mosaic virus:
Method 1: When planting, select disease-free tubers, and promptly remove and burn diseased plants found during the growing period;
Method 2: Throughout the entire growing period, use a 1000-fold dilution of 50% malathion or a 3000-fold dilution of 2.5% deltamethrin emulsifiable concentrate to control aphids, thrips, and other transmission vectors.
