Why is the seedling stage the key period for applying phosphate fertilizer to rapeseed?
Rapeseed is a crop with a relatively high boron requirement. When boron is deficient at the seedling stage, the root system stops growing, there are no root hairs or no lateral roots, and the growing point turns from brown to scorched and dies; applying rapeseed boron fertilizer in a timely manner plays an important role in achieving high yield and good quality in rapeseed. The specific methods are:
Boron fertilizer as a base fertilizer: boron fertilizer used as a base fertilizer is applied directly into the soil. Before transplanting, when preparing the seedbed or the field, it can be applied mixed with organic fertilizer or nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers, or it can be mixed with dry fine soil and then applied. Because boron fertilizer has a residual effect, when applied once as a base fertilizer, it can be applied again after 1~2 years. Since boron fertilizer inhibits seed germination and young root growth, direct contact between boron fertilizer and seeds should be avoided.
Root dipping at transplanting: use a 0.1% boron fertilizer aqueous solution as a root-dipping fertilizer when transplanting rapeseed seedlings, which has a good effect on promoting root development and greening after transplanting. The method is: after the rapeseed seedlings are pulled up, dip the root system briefly in the boron fertilizer solution and transplant immediately, or after transplanting rapeseed, use it as settling water poured around the base of the plants.
Spraying fertilizer at the seedling stage: when boron fertilizer was not used for field-transplanted rapeseed or direct-seeded rapeseed, for early and medium-maturing varieties at 10~12 total leaves, and for late-maturing varieties at 15 leaves, use 200~250 grams of borax per mu, mixed with 50~75 kg of water.
