How do you deworm pigs? Farmers should keep these precautions in mind

Pig farming
In grassroots work to promote farming techniques, deworming pigs is an important task; farmers use deworming drugs in a non-standard way, with great arbitrariness in dosage, often resulting in doses several times higher than the recommended amount or insufficient doses, causing poisoning in dewormed pigs and failing to achieve the parasite removal effect. In promotion work, the pig deworming drug we often use is avermectin powder (Baichongsha), which is convenient to buy and can effectively remove internal and external parasites from pigs. The following points need attention during use:
1. First estimate the weight of the pigs that need deworming. The amount of deworming drug used is calculated according to pig weight, so estimating the pig's weight well is key. The dosage of avermectin is 0.3 mg per 1 kg of pig body weight. Common package sizes are 25 grams per pack or 50 grams per pack. But during operation, farmers find it difficult to calculate the dosage. It is more convenient to calculate it based on the amount used per pack. After conversion, a 50 kg pig uses 25 grams, which is one pack. For piglets, plan how many piglets make up one pack.
⟧ 2. Before feeding the deworming drug, it is best to reduce the pigs' feed for one meal and then feed the deworming drug, so that the pigs will eat all the drug.
3. The drug can only be fed to pigs at room temperature and must not be boiled at high temperature before feeding.
4. Provide sufficient clean drinking water and easily digestible feed to facilitate the expulsion of the parasites.
5. Collect the expelled parasites and destroy them in a centralized manner.
6. Deworm pigs promptly after weaning. When feeding large amounts of green feed, add one more deworming treatment; generally carry one out every 3 months.
7. Do not use deworming drugs one month before slaughter. (Withdrawal period is 28 days)
