Disadvantages of Nutrient Imbalance in Fish Farming with Chicken Manure and Solutions

Fish Farming
Chicken manure contains many residual nutrients. Using chicken manure to farm fish not only saves commercial feed but also improves economic returns and reduces environmental pollution. However, farming fish with chicken manure also has disadvantages: increased organic matter, excessively high ammonia nitrogen, severe oxygen consumption, oxygen deficiency in pond bottom substrate, nutrient imbalance, and so on. Therefore, when using chicken manure, the following solutions can be adopted:
1. Use during low-temperature periods
Chicken manure is best arranged for use as a base fertilizer in winter and spring. During high temperatures, use a small amount of fermented chicken manure that has been disinfected with bleaching powder or strong chlorine powder;
2. Use in combination with microecological preparations
Microecological preparations can effectively absorb ammonia nitrogen, convert nitrite, change the algal phase, decompose organic matter and release nutrients, etc. For example: if nitrite is high, turn on the aerator, and while applying Bacillus, use granular oxygen, biological bottom improver, etc.
3. Do not use during disease outbreaks
Because large amounts of organic matter can cause bacteria to attach and multiply rapidly, allowing pathogenic bacteria to spread quickly, thereby increasing fish disease outbreaks;
4. Combined use of organic and inorganic fertilizers
The combined use of organic and inorganic fertilizers can make full use of various nutrients, balance various nutrients, promote plankton growth, achieve algal phase balance, and keep the pond water in a state of “fertile, lively, tender and refreshing” for a long time.
