These four nutrients are essential for pigs to reach market weight early
Pigs entering the fattening stage have mature organs, stronger disease resistance, fewer illnesses, and are easier to raise. During this fattening period, how to increase the daily weight gain of pigs and get them to market earlier is the key focus of feeding management. Today, the editor will introduce the four nutrient elements that are indispensable in the pig fattening process.

Pig
1. Energy requirements:One of the indispensable nutrient elements for fattening pigs is energy. The higher the energy level, the faster the daily weight gain of pigs, and the higher the feed utilization rate. However, the fat content in the pig's body will also increase, and the lean meat rate will be lower. The commonly used energy feed is mainly corn, known as the king of feed. Next are oats, barley, sorghum, etc.
2. Protein requirements:Protein helps pig muscle growth and is also the main component of antibodies, hormones and enzymes, maintaining the pig's life activities and normal growth and development. If the amount of protein is insufficient for the needs of fattening pigs, it will not only affect muscle growth but also affect weight gain. The crude protein level in the diet is generally suitable at 16-18% for lean-type pigs in the 20-60 kg stage and 14-15% in the 60-90 kg stage. Soybean (yellow soybean), with a protein content of 36.20%, is a commonly used protein feed, followed by broad beans, peas, mung beans and other legume seeds. In actual use, cake-type feeds are mostly used.
3. Mineral and vitamin requirements:Pigs in the fattening stage have very strict requirements for minerals. When formulating diets, the supply of calcium, phosphorus and salt must be considered. In one experiment, corn plus soybean cake was used as the basic diet for pigs, and salt (0.3-0.5%) was added according to the standard. The daily weight gain of pigs was 720 grams, while the daily weight gain of pigs fed without added salt was only 560 grams.
4. Crude fiber requirements:Too high a crude fiber level will reduce the daily weight gain and feed utilization efficiency of pigs, so the amount used for fattening pigs in the early stage should not exceed 4%, and in the later stage should not exceed 8%.
