How to prevent and treat pig rash, which occurs frequently in hot and humid summers

Pig eczema, also known as pig dampness-toxin, generally occurs frequently in hot summers.

Pig

Symptoms:Most pigs become ill suddenly, with redness of the skin under the jaw, on the abdomen, and on both sides of the perineum, and broad bean-sized nodules; they are restless and itchy. In severe cases there are blisters and papules, and after they rupture, yellow fluid seeps out, followed by scabs or scales.

Prevention:Clean the pigpen often, prevent rain leakage, and frequently dry the bedding straw. Lime can be spread to remove dampness.

    Treatment

    1. Acute dampness-toxin syndrome. Inject the pig intravenously with 10-20 ml of calcium chloride or calcium gluconate, and give vitamin A, C, and compound vitamin B orally, 0.5-2 ml each; if necessary, inject the pig with 0.5-1.5 ml of adrenaline; for pigs with flushing and papules, mix 1 g of ichthammol, 1 g of salicylic acid, and 30 g of zinc oxide ointment, then apply it, once daily; when there is more exudate from the affected area, apply a 3%——5% gentian violet alcohol solution or sprinkle on an equal-part mixture of boric acid and tannic acid powder.

    2. Chronic dampness-toxin syndrome. Take 9 g of safflower, 15 g of angelica, 14 g of codonopsis, 9 g of atractylodes, 9 g of peach kernel, 15 g of raw astragalus, 9 g of poria, 12 g of red peony, and 15 g of salvia, decoct in water, remove the residue, mix in a small amount of concentrated feed, and feed it to the affected pig. For external washing treatment, first wash the pig's affected area clean with soapy water, then apply 10% sulfur coal tar ointment; if it has already become purulent and infected, first clean the affected area with 0.1% potassium permanganate solution or 0.3% nitrofural solution, then apply iodine tincture or sprinkle on anti-inflammatory powder. If scabs and scales have accumulated on the affected area, first rinse it clean with 3% hydrogen peroxide, then apply ichthammol ointment.
