High mortality from stomatitis in domestic rabbits: detailed Chinese herbal treatment and prevention methods
Stomatitis in domestic rabbits occurs mostly in young rabbits aged 20 to 90 days. The symptoms of stomatitis are blisters and ulcers in the mucous membrane of the oral cavity, accompanied by heavy salivation and relatively high mortality. If stomatitis in domestic rabbits is discovered early, Chinese herbal treatment can be used as follows:

Domestic rabbit
1. Honeysuckle 10 g, wild chrysanthemum 5 g, decoct in water for drinking or mix with feed, and at the same time apply Bingpeng powder to the inflamed areas of the oral cavity; the effect is obvious.
2. Baidian 10 g, Vietnamese sophora root 10 g, Baphicacanthus cusia 15 g, wintergreen 5 g, decoct in water and feed by mouth while also rinsing the oral cavity, 2 times per day.
3. Stir an appropriate amount of common rush over gentle heat until it turns yellowish-brown and slightly black, grind into powder, and apply to the inflamed areas of the sick rabbit's oral cavity, 3 times a day; effect appears the same day.
4. An appropriate amount of alum and one pig gallbladder. Grind the alum into fine powder, put it into the pig gallbladder, sun-dry for several days, and keep for later use. Apply to the sick rabbit's oral cavity 2 times a day; complete recovery in 2 to 3 days.
5. Remove the two outer layers of watermelon rind, sun-dry and stir-fry until black, and grind into fine powder. Take 5 parts watermelon rind powder and 1 part alum powder, mix, and apply to the affected areas in the sick rabbit's oral cavity, 3 times a day for 2 to 3 consecutive days, and it can be cured.
6. Feed 2 to 3 pills of "Liushen Wan" or "Baochi Wan" by mouth, 2 times a day, and at the same time use Isatis leaf or Isatis root instant granules in drinking water; the effect is good for treating anorexia-causing stomatitis in young rabbits.
7. Apply iodine glycerin, or a mixture of 10 parts table salt and 1 part vinegar, to the affected areas of the domestic rabbit's oral cavity; for those with ulceration, some medicinal liquid may be applied, once each morning and evening, for 2 to 3 consecutive days.
8. When feeding domestic rabbits, frequently choose tangerine peel, Asiatic dayflower, Isatis leaf, houttuynia, dandelion, Andrographis paniculata, and other rabbit forage grasses, which can play a role in preventing and treating rabbit oral cavity problems.
