High mortality rate of yellow urine disease in newborn rabbits: how to prevent and treat it scientifically?
Yellow urine disease in newborn rabbits is mostly caused by newborn rabbits sucking milk from does with mastitis. Yellow urine disease mainly occurs in newborn rabbits before their eyes open, and often the whole litter is affected. After infection, the newborn rabbits show lethargy and cold limbs, with yellow urine with a fishy odor sticking to the hind legs and around the anus. After 2 to 3 days of illness, the newborn rabbits die one after another, and the mortality rate is extremely high. Four methods for preventing and treating yellow urine disease in newborn rabbits are introduced here for rabbit raisers to choose from.

Rabbits
1. Before newborn rabbits are nursed, give each one 2 to 3 drops of chloramphenicol eye drops orally to prevent yellow urine disease in newborn rabbits. For affected newborn rabbits, give gentamicin orally or inject chloramphenicol, 2 times a day, 2 to 3 drops each time, for 3 consecutive days, and they can be cured.
2. After the doe gives birth, inject 1 ampoule of da huang teng su injection (2 milliliters per rabbit) into the gluteal muscle once. Newborn rabbits nursed by does injected with da huang teng su develop normally, have glossy fur, and pass urine that is clear like water, with no color or sediment. The doe will not have mastitis during lactation.
3. Seven days before the doe gives birth, inject streptomycin intramuscularly once a day, 1 milliliter each time, for 3 consecutive days.
4. For newborn rabbits that are already ill, take 2 to 3 grams of white sugar, dissolve it in warm boiled water, add 1 packet of Xiao Er An and stir evenly, use a needleless syringe to draw this mixed liquid and drip it into the corner of the mouth of the affected newborn rabbits, 4 to 5 drops per newborn rabbit each time, 3 to 4 times a day, for 3 consecutive days, and they can be cured.
