How to prevent and control stunted growth in chickens caused by coccidiosis
Avian coccidiosis is a widely distributed protozoan disease, and among all chicken diseases, coccidiosis has the highest incidence rate, accounting for 1/6 to 1/5. The economic losses caused by avian coccidiosis are very large. In chicks, the infection rate can reach as high as 80% to 100%, and the mortality rate can reach 20% to 50%. Moreover, the economic losses caused by avian coccidiosis from stunted flock growth and reduced egg production often exceed the losses from death. As we have entered a new era of intensive chicken farming, it is very necessary to strengthen the prevention of coccidiosis in flocks and adopt more flexible feeding and management measures.

Chicken
The prevention and control of coccidiosis should focus on prevention, with attention mainly paid to the following points:
(1) Keep the chicken coop clean, dry and ventilated. Remove feces and damp litter in a timely manner.
(2) Keep feeders, utensils and perches in the feed area frequently scrubbed and disinfected to reduce the chance of infection.
(3) Maintain sufficient VA and VB in the feed to enhance resistance and reduce the incidence rate.
(4) Minimize stress as much as possible.
(5) Add coccidiostats to chicken feed; the principle of use is to change drugs frequently to avoid developing drug resistance.
