How to Scientifically Feed Dairy Cows with Poor Appetite in Summer Heat

In summer heat, the diet structure of dairy cows should be appropriately improved, with as little hay as possible and a reduced amount of roughage. Increase the protein and fat content in the daily ration, and appropriately increase the content of corn, soybean cake and fish meal in the compound feed, so that the protein concentration is raised by about 4% above the normal level. More green, succulent feed should also be given, such as high-quality green grass, carrots, potatoes, etc.

Green feed is rich in carbohydrates and contains a large amount of water. It is not only highly palatable but also quenches thirst, and is very beneficial for preventing heatstroke, cooling the animals down and alleviating heat stress in dairy cows. At the same time, the concentrate can be made into porridge feed. Porridge feed is highly palatable, can increase the feed intake of dairy cows and helps their digestion and absorption, thereby greatly improving the effective utilization rate of the feed.

The temperature is relatively high at noon in summer, and the appetite of dairy cows is relatively low, so the feeding time should also be adjusted. At night and in the early morning, when the temperature is lower, the feed intake of dairy cows accounts for 75%-80% of the whole day's intake. Therefore, it is best to add more feed in the morning and evening to increase the feed intake of dairy cows and meet their nutritional needs.

Mung bean soup has the effect of clearing heat and detoxifying, and preventing heatstroke and cooling the body. Use 1-1.5 kg of fresh mung beans, add 4-5 kg of water, boil for 1-2 hours, add 40 kg of clean drinking water, and give it to the dairy cows once a day.
