What kind of fertilizer is suitable as a starter fertilizer? Please advise
Because starter fertilizer often comes into contact with seeds or is placed close to them, planting places fairly strict requirements on the application method and rate. If applied improperly, it will cause seedling burn, seed rot, and gaps in the rows. Therefore, any chemical fertilizer with excessively high concentration, excessive acidity, excessive alkalinity, or containing toxic substances, as well as any fertilizer that generates high temperatures, is not suitable for use as a starter fertilizer. Generally, quick-acting chemical fertilizers or well-decomposed, high-quality farmyard manure are used as starter fertilizer. The chemical fertilizers that can be used as starter fertilizer in production are as follows:
Ammonium sulfate, abbreviated as ammonium sulfate. When used as a starter fertilizer, applying it together with the seed should avoid excessive contact with the seed. Seed dressing is an economical and effective method of applying starter fertilizer (fertilizer rate of 2.5 kg per mu), but the seed and ammonium sulfate must be kept in a dry state, and it must be sown immediately after mixing, never left to sit for long.
Single superphosphate, abbreviated as ordinary superphosphate. Before application, first grind the ordinary superphosphate fine and sift it, and preferably mix it with high-quality farmyard manure to avoid contact between the ordinary superphosphate and young seedlings causing seedling burn. The fertilizer rate per mu is suitably 5 to 10 kg.
Triple superphosphate, abbreviated as triple superphosphate. When used as a starter fertilizer, the fertilizer rate per mu is suitably 2.5 to 5 kg. Because triple superphosphate contains no calcium sulfate, its fertilizing effect on sulfur-loving crops (such as potatoes and legume crops) is inferior to that of ordinary superphosphate. In addition, its effect when applied to alkaline soil is also inferior to that of ordinary superphosphate.
