Four methods for rapid fattening of geese, achieving plump meat and tender flesh in a short time
Whether they are breeder geese or meat goslings, after 15-20 days of fattening before market, they become plump and tender, with full breast muscles, delicious flavor, a high dressing percentage, and significant benefits. Depending on different locations and different feeding conditions, rapid fattening of meat geese can adopt these four methods:
Geese
1. Pasture fattening. This is carried out in combination with the farming calendar, that is, starting to raise young geese 50-60 days before the rice and wheat harvest. When the goslings grow to 50-60 days of age, it coincides with the harvest season, and the grain, wheat kernels, and grass seeds dropped in the fields during harvest are most suitable for grazing geese. To improve the effect, the geese's amount of exercise should be reduced. Temporary goose shelters can be set up, and wherever the flock grazes, they stay overnight there. This can reduce the geese running back and forth, increase foraging time, reduce energy consumption, and promote fattening. For pasture fattening, a good route must be chosen. Not only should the food sources be abundant, but there should also be clean rivers along the grazing route. After about 10-15 days of grazing, they can be fattened and sent to market. This fattening method has the lowest cost.
2. Shed fattening.Use bamboo (wood) to build a bamboo (wood) shed frame, with the bottom of the frame about 60-70 cm above the ground. Bamboo strips are placed around the shed, and feed troughs and water troughs are hung outside the enclosure. The geese stick their heads out between two bamboo strips to eat and drink. To limit the geese's activity, the shed frame can be divided into several small pens of about 10 sq m each, with 4 geese per sq m. During the fattening period, feeds with higher energy such as paddy, broken rice, sweet potato, corn, and rice bran are the main feed, fed 3-4 times a day. After each feeding, a small amount of green feed can be given.
3. Pen fattening.Use bamboo strips (straw) to enclose small pens, with 5-6 geese per pen. The size of the pen should be less than twice the area occupied by all the geese, and the height should be 60 cm. The geese can stand in the pen, but cannot raise their heads and call out. Frequent calling is not conducive to fattening. Feed troughs and waterers are placed outside the pen, and the geese need to stretch out their heads to eat and drink. Feed 3 times during the day and once at night, mainly with corn, bran, soybean cake, paddy, and so on. To increase the geese's appetite, during the fattening period there should be appropriate water bathing and sunbathing. Every other day, let the geese go down to the pond for a water bath of about 10-20 minutes.
4. Forced fattening.Forced fattening, commonly known as stuffing fattening, uses feed such as corn, wheat bran, broken rice, fine bran, and soybean cake, mixed with water, and made into stuffing strips about 5 cm long, which are manually inserted into the goose's esophagus to force it to swallow. At first, stuff 3 times a day, 3-4 strips each time, and later increase to 5 stuffings a day, 5-6 strips each time. After about 20 days, the weight gain can be more than 1 times.
