How to prevent and treat duck diseases in summer and autumn? Temperature fluctuates and bacteria breed easily
Right now it is the transition between summer and autumn, with large temperature changes and easy breeding of various harmful bacteria, making it a season of high incidence of diseases in livestock, poultry, fish and other animals. If prevention is neglected at this time, diseases are easily triggered, causing large-scale deaths of livestock, poultry and fish and relatively large losses. Therefore, the symptoms and prevention and treatment methods of common duck diseases in this period are introduced to everyone below.

Duck
1. Duck plague. It occurs frequently in spring, summer and autumn, with high morbidity and mortality. Prevention: inject duck plague vaccine into ducklings at 10 to 15 days of age. Treatment: for every 100 adult ducks, use 15 grams each of Sichuan lovage rhizome and codonopsis root, 20 grams each of talc, cinnamon and licorice, 10 grams of honeysuckle flower, 12 grams of turmeric root tuber, and 8 grams of Sichuan pepper, decoct in water and take the juice, add 200 grams of 50-degree baijiu and mix well, and give it to the ducks to drink. For those that cannot drink on their own, administer by gavage, 4 to 5 milliliters per duck. Use for 2 consecutive doses, and it can cure the disease.
2. Duckling viral hepatitis.Ducks 1 to 3 weeks old are susceptible, and it occurs frequently within 5 weeks of age, with acute onset and rapid spread. Prevention: immunize breeder ducks 2 times each year. Treatment: for every 100 ducks, use 100 grams of virgate wormwood herb, and 40 grams each of elsholtzia, rhubarb, gentian root, gardenia fruit, scutellaria root, phellodendron bark and isatis root, decoct in water and take the juice, add 500 grams of white sugar, and give it to the ducks as drinking water or mixed into feed, 1 dose per day, for 3 consecutive days. At the same time, add 50 grams of poultry multivitamins and 100 yeast tablets (crushed) per 50 kg of feed and mix well.
3. Duck infectious serositis.Prevention: usually add 2 to 4% sulfamethoxazole to drinking water. Treatment: use 7,500 international units of gentamicin per kilogram of duck body weight, add it to drinking water, use for 2 to 3 consecutive days, and add an appropriate amount of poultry multivitamins to the duck feed to improve the curative effect.
4. Duck pasteurellosis. The most acute cases show no symptoms at all; the sick duck suddenly flaps its wings a few times and falls dead. The course of disease is 1 to 2 days. The sick duck's body temperature rises above 43 degrees C, the tail and wings droop, water intake increases, foamy liquid flows from the mouth and nose, and it often shakes its head. For duck farms where this disease often occurs, feed with Andrographis paniculata powder mixed into the feed for 2 to 3 days each week, or feed with oxytetracycline base mixed into the feed at 50 milligrams per kilogram of duck body weight for 2 days, which has a good preventive effect. Inject penicillin and streptomycin intramuscularly at 50,000 units each per kilogram of sick duck body weight, 2 times a day, for 2 consecutive days, and the effect is quick. Sulfonamide drugs, such as sulfadiazine and sulfadimidine, are fed mixed into the feed at 0.05 to 0.1%, for 3 to 5 consecutive days.
5. Duck colibacillosis.Sick ducks are listless, have reduced appetite and increased thirst, and in severe cases have difficulty breathing. When laying ducks suffer from this disease, the feces contain egg white, coagulated protein and yolk; male ducks have swollen penises, some exposed. Duck houses and utensils should be disinfected once every 2 weeks; once the disease is found, disinfect twice a week. Inject gentamicin intramuscularly at 10,000 units per kilogram of duck body weight, once a day, for 3 consecutive days, or add it to drinking water at 20,000 units per kilogram of duck body weight, for 3 consecutive days. Use norfloxacin premix according to the instructions, for 3 consecutive days. The Chinese herbal medicines poultry bacteria-eliminating powder and compound Andrographis paniculata have a relatively good curative effect on duck colibacillosis.
