Greenhouse Farming of Broilers to Accelerate Fattening Speed: Farming Techniques for Broiler Chickens in Greenhouses

At present, the poultry industry is continuously developing, with large amounts of capital and technology being invested in broiler farming. Experts and industry insiders are constantly exploring new broiler farming techniques, and greenhouse farming of broilers has emerged as a result. However, greenhouse farming of broilers should be combined with the growth characteristics of broilers, with attention paid to controlling the environment inside the greenhouse, strengthening feeding management, and using medications safely, so that the economic benefits will be good.

    Environmental control:

The greenhouse is the living environment on which broilers depend. If the environment inside the greenhouse does not meet standards, broilers will be harmed, various diseases will appear, or growth will be inhibited and standards will not be met. It is necessary to ensure that the temperature inside the greenhouse is neither too low nor too high. In summer, attention should be paid to ventilation to prevent excessively high temperatures from causing the spread of disease. In winter, the focus of temperature control lies in isolation from cold air to prevent avian influenza. Attention should be paid to hygiene inside the greenhouse. If hygiene does not meet standards, garbage will rot, making the air turbid; broilers will be unable to breathe quality air, and diseases are easily triggered. Sick chickens should be isolated, attention should be paid to ventilation, and sources of contamination should be dealt with promptly. During periods when diseases are prevalent, environmental control should be strengthened even more. The greenhouse should be kept clean, sources of contamination should be prevented, and infected broilers should be isolated promptly. The greenhouse should be built according to standards and should not be too small, to prevent the chickens from being too crowded, which would hinder growth, and also to prevent trampling.

    Strengthen feeding management:

The level of management in greenhouse broiler farming determines the economic benefits of broilers. Water should be provided reasonably; drinking too much water affects broiler growth. Feed should meet standards and must be within its shelf life; the preparation of feed must conform to the growth patterns of broilers. Lighting should be ensured; good lighting can suppress disease, keep broilers in harmony with the external environment, and promote growth. Humidity inside the greenhouse should be managed and adjusted through humidifiers to maintain a reasonable range, which is also beneficial for broiler farming. Do not reduce the environmental requirements for broilers just to save costs; various necessary conditions should be standardized accordingly, and the quality of rearing can be improved through requirements placed on management personnel.

    Safe medication use:

    1. If medications must be used for disease prevention and treatment, the dosage should be calculated according to standards to prevent using too much or too little. 2. Medications should be legitimate; illegal drugs must not be used. 3. Some farmers use growth-promoting drugs to rapidly increase broiler body weight, which may bring health risks. 4. During disease prevention and treatment, disposable syringes should be used; one syringe must not be used to inject multiple chickens, to prevent disease transmission. 5. If broilers show clinical symptoms, they should be diagnosed promptly, prevented and treated promptly, with accurate dosage, and testing should be done well. 6. During periods of high disease prevalence, prevention should be strengthened by adding a certain dosage of medication to the feed to ensure healthy growth of broilers. During periods when avian influenza occurs, even more attention should be paid to the safe use of medications for broilers. Through safe medication use, broilers in epidemic situations can continue to survive. It plays a role in preventing and treating broilers threatened by epidemics, giving broilers a safe medication environment.
