What is BB fertilizer? What are the characteristics of BB fertilizer? We ask knowledgeable readers to help explainLast month, during visits to rural areas, we found that many agricultural supply stores were selling numerous varieties of BB fertilizer, but farmers were not very accepting of this brightly colored fertilizer. Therefore, Zhongdi Network has compiled the principles and characteristics of BB fertilizer, listed in detail below for readers' reference.
What is BB fertilizer:
BB fertilizer, also called bulk blended fertilizer, is a compound fertilizer made by blending separate granular forms of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in a certain ratio. The formula of BB fertilizer is very flexible and suitable for various types of soil; different formulas of BB fertilizer can be made according to the properties of different soils. BB fertilizer also has the advantages of complete nutrients and high concentration; applying it not only saves time and labor, but also produces a very obvious yield increase. The most commonly used base fertilizers for blending BB fertilizer are monoammonium phosphate, diammonium phosphate, triple superphosphate, potassium chloride, ammonium nitrate, urea and ammonium sulfate.
Characteristics of BB fertilizer:
Characteristic one: BB fertilizer can flexibly adjust its fertilizer formula according to the nutrient demand patterns of crops and the nutrient supply characteristics of different soils, so as to meet the nutrient needs of crop growth while also reducing nutrient waste.
Characteristic two: Through reasonable combination, the nutrient concentration of BB fertilizer can reach as high as over 50%, and BB fertilizer can be supplemented with medium and trace elements, pesticides, herbicides, etc., allowing simultaneous application of pesticide and fertilizer to save labor and time.
Characteristic three: By adjusting the formula and raw materials, BB fertilizer can be used as both base fertilizer and topdressing for crops; it is no longer a specialized fertilizer for a single purpose.
Characteristic four: BB fertilizer involves no chemical reaction during production, which meets energy-saving and environmental protection requirements while also lowering fertilizer production costs.
Disadvantages of BB fertilizer:
1. BB fertilizer has high requirements for raw materials; the particle size and density of the raw materials must be consistent.
2. BB fertilizer easily absorbs moisture and cakes, because the nitrogen in BB fertilizer is generally mainly urea granules, and urea readily absorbs water, leading to caking. Bulk BB fertilizer should be blended and applied on the same day.
3. BB fertilizer is prone to separation; because the raw materials differ in density and particle size, BB fertilizer easily stratifies. Therefore, BB fertilizer should be re-mixed before application.
4. Because BB fertilizer consists of separate granules, it is difficult to mix evenly when adding medium and trace elements, and a certain amount of binder needs to be added.
