Dairy goat profitability lies in milk production: how to increase dairy goat milk yield

Dairy goats

    1. Feed green fodder. Green fodder is rich in nutrients and highly palatable, making it suitable for feeding dairy goats. According to trials, dairy goats fed green fodder produce more than 0.5 kg more milk per day than those fed hay.

    2. Provide enough warm water. Supply dairy goats with sufficient water every day, at least 4 times a day. The water should be warm, with an appropriate amount of salt added. When dairy goats drink enough water, their mammary lactation function becomes vigorous, which increases milk yield.

    3. Feed soaked soybeans. Soybeans are rich in nutrients. Feeding dairy goats 100 grams of soaked soybeans daily can increase milk yield by more than 500 grams.

    4. Persist with grazing. Trials show that grazing dairy goats for 5—6 hours daily can increase milk yield by more than 200 grams.

    5. Increase the number of milkings. Changing from milking once a day to twice a day can increase milk yield by 20%—30%; changing from twice to three times can further increase milk yield by 10%, and can also reduce pressure and load inside the udder, effectively preventing milk stasis from causing mastitis.

    6. Feed tea water. Tea leaves contain various vitamins, trace elements, and amino acids. Soak tea leaves in boiling water for 1 hour, then feed the tea water together with the leaves to the goats, twice a day, 500 milliliters each time. Milk yield can increase by 20%, and it can also prevent and treat diseases such as mastitis and gastroenteritis.

    7. Feed rapeseed cake and peanut shell powder. Adding 7% cooked rapeseed cake or 3%—5% peanut shell powder to dairy goat feed can both increase milk yield by more than 15%.

    8. Feed sodium bicarbonate. Adding 50 grams of sodium bicarbonate to dairy goats' daily feed increases milk yield by 30%.

    9. Massage the udder. Massaging the udder of dairy goats 2—3 times a day for 5—10 minutes each time can promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, eliminate hidden risks of mastitis, promote mammary secretion, and increase milk yield.

    10. Increase natural light exposure. After the Start of Autumn, temperatures drop and light weakens, so dairy goat milk yield declines. Therefore, let the goats spend more time outdoors at midday in sheltered, sunny spots to move around and sunbathe. It is both economical and effective.
