What should be noted when spraying urea as a foliar fertilizer? What is the general concentration for foliar spraying of urea? We invite experienced readers to share their insights.

Urea is the most commonly used nitrogen fertilizer, and it can also be used as a foliar topdressing, with better results than other nitrogen fertilizers. Therefore, Zhongdi Network has compiled the precautions to note and the usual concentrations when using urea for foliar spraying, listed in detail below for readers' reference.

Note 1:Do not spray urea on leaves in extremely hot weather or before rain, to avoid burning the seedlings or losing fertilizer nutrients. The best time to spray urea is in the early morning or afternoon each day, and it is best to spray again at an interval of 7-10 days.

Note 2:When spraying on cereal crops or crops with smooth leaves, you can add 0.1% adhesive (such as washing powder or dish soap) to prevent poor results.

Note 3:Generally, for urea used in spraying, the biuret content must not exceed 0.5%; a high content can easily damage the leaves when used as a topdressing.

Note 4:Because crop types differ, the concentration of urea solution for spraying also differs. For example, cereal crops generally require a spraying concentration of 1.5-2%; when spraying during the flowering period, the urea concentration should be even lower. For leafy vegetables and cucumbers, the spraying concentration is 1-1.5%. For fruit trees such as apples, pears and grapes, 0.5% is suitable. For tomatoes, 0.3% is suitable.
