How to choose a soil conditioner? Which soil conditioner is good? We ask knowledgeable readers to help explainGeneral agricultural land, after many years of frequent cultivation, has developed various soil problems, such as acid-base imbalance, soil compaction, and reduced organic matter, causing frequent crop diseases and pests and lower yields, so the demand for soil conditioners is growing day by day. Therefore Zhongdi Network has compiled the four key points for purchasing soil conditioners, listed in detail below for readers' reference.
Key point one: Check the product certificates:
Because the agricultural materials market is flooded with large quantities of soil conditioners that have not been registered with the Ministry of Agriculture, but most of them use the registration numbers of microbial fertilizers, organic fertilizers, water-soluble fertilizers and the like, and simply cannot meet the national standards set for soil conditioners. Using such inferior soil conditioners will pollute the soil, worsen soil compaction, and be even more harmful to crop growth.
A truly qualified soil conditioner must have a registration number issued by the national Ministry of Agriculture.
Key point two: Check the product appearance:
A soil conditioner of excellent quality is generally yellow or gray; a medium-quality soil conditioner is generally white; a substandard soil conditioner is brown; a red soil conditioner is generally counterfeit.
Key point three: Check the product raw materials:
There are many raw materials used to produce the series of soil conditioner products, including potassium feldspar, limestone, gypsum, iron ore slag, phosphate ore slag, fly ash and so on. Among them, potassium feldspar is the highest-quality raw material for processing soil conditioners; black and gray soil conditioners made from coal slag and ore slag as raw materials have severely excessive heavy metal content and easily cause soil poisoning; while white soil conditioners made from limestone and gypsum as raw materials have very little effect on regulating soil acidity and easily cause soil compaction.
Key point four: Check the product process:
At present, the production processes for soil conditioners in China fall into three types: the high-temperature calcination method, the chemical reaction method, and the mechanical crushing method. At present, the high-temperature calcination method is the most advanced production process internationally.
High-temperature calcination method - using high-quality potassium feldspar as the raw material, grinding it into powder and pressing it into blocks, and after calcination at a high temperature of 1300°C, multiple primary colors such as silicon, calcium, potassium, and magnesium in the ore are released from the crystal lattice structure of the ore, becoming a highly active soil conditioner that crops can directly absorb.
Chemical reaction method - using potassium feldspar as the raw material, through chemical reactions the elements such as silicon, calcium, and potassium in the ore are activated and become a soil conditioner that plants can absorb and utilize.
Mechanical crushing method - some inferior ores and coal slag and the like are directly ground and processed by a crusher, and medium and trace elements such as silicon and calcium still exist in the form of crystal lattices and cannot be absorbed and utilized by crops.
