How to prevent and treat enterotoxemia in sheep causing them to lie dazed, run around, grind their teeth, twitch and convulse?
Enterotoxemia in sheep is an acute toxemia caused by Clostridium welchii. Clostridium welchii multiplies in large numbers in the sheep's intestines and produces toxins, causing disease, and it is generally more common in late spring and early summer and in autumn. Enterotoxemia in sheep has a high incidence rate and rapid death, so attention must be paid to its prevention and treatment. The specific symptoms and prevention and treatment techniques are as follows:

Sheep
I. Causes and symptoms:
Enterotoxemia in sheep is an acute infectious disease caused by type D Clostridium welchii producing large amounts of toxins in the sheep's intestines. It mostly occurs in young sheep in good body condition and under 2 years old, and appears sporadically. Heavy rain, sudden climate changes, overeating tender grass and concentrated feed, and insufficient exercise can all trigger enterotoxemia in sheep. The onset is mostly acute, with death, and after death the kidneys become soft. Clinical symptoms: dazed, lying down, running and teeth grinding, falling to the ground on one side, limb twitching and convulsions, rolling left and right, head and neck bent backward, rapid breathing, foam from the mouth and nose, groaning after becoming ill, and death within 1—2 hours.
II. Prevention and treatment techniques:
1. Because the disease causes sudden death, vaccination should be the main preventive measure. Inject 5 milliliters of sheep tetravalent vaccine subcutaneously or intramuscularly twice a year in spring and autumn.
2. Provide appropriate exercise, and do not give too much green feed or concentrated feed.
3. For sheep whose disease course is more than 2 hours, sulfaguanidine can be given orally at 10 to 20 grams or immune serum can be injected.
4. Intramuscular injection of chloramphenicol 0.5 to 0.7 grams, 3 times a day.
5. Intramuscular injection of 1.6 million units of penicillin and 500 milligrams of streptomycin, mixed injection, 4 times a day.
