Honeysuckle, also known as Japanese honeysuckle, is one of China's major export medicinal herbs due to its extremely high medicinal value, and domestic demand is also constantly increasing. However, honeysuckle also suffers from pests and diseases, and aphids are a relatively common problem for honeysuckle. Let me introduce the prevention and control methods for honeysuckle aphids.

Honeysuckle

I. Symptoms:They appear in early to mid-April, and reproduce fastest at 15°C-25°C. They mainly pierce and suck the plant's sap, causing leaves to turn yellow, curl, and shrivel; in severe cases, they can cause total crop loss.

II. Prevention and control measures:

1. Clear weeds.

2. Before the plants sprout, spray once with 0.2-degree Baume lime-sulfur mixture, then spray once each at Qingming, Guyu, and Lixia. This can eradicate aphids and also control multiple pests and diseases.

3. From late March to early April, when the leaves unfold and aphids begin to appear, spray a 40% omethoate 1500x-2000x solution, once every 5-7 days, for several consecutive applications. Do not use chemicals during the flowering and harvest period; instead, use 1 kg of laundry detergent mixed with 10 kg of water, or 1 kg of alcohol mixed with 100 kg of water, and spray.

New Methods for Preventing and Controlling Honeysuckle Aphids

Honeysuckle:The main pest is aphids. In hot and rainy environments, they often damage new leaves and vine tips, causing curling and affecting growth. Commonly, a 40% dimethoate emulsion 3000x solution is sprayed, or a 25% phosmet emulsion 1000x solution is sprayed.

In addition, there are two simple methods:

①、Use a ratio of 5 g of cigarette butts soaked in 70-80 ml of water, soak for 24 hours, rub gently, filter out the residue with gauze, and then spray;

②、Use a 1:200 solution of laundry detergent water (soapy water). To improve efficacy, add a few drops of rapeseed oil (do not use animal fat), stir thoroughly, and spray with a sprayer until no oil slicks are visible on the surface, or mix in a little ginger water and spray; the effect is also very good.

The "Mieyajing" sold in flower and plant shops: add 200 ml of water per small packet; after spraying, it takes effect in 20-30 minutes.
