Cranberry (cranberry), also known as lingonberry, is a plant that grows in North America (especially Massachusetts). In recent decades, it has been widely used to prevent or treat bacterial infections of the urinary tract and vagina. What are the benefits of this fruit? Is it really helpful for gynecological inflammation? Let's take a look together.

 The latest JAMA report states:

The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), in its latest research report published in June 2002, stated that regularly drinking cranberry juice helps protect the body from urinary tract infections caused by certain antibiotic-resistant bacteria. The official United States Pharmacopeia (USP) also records this effect. It is very effective in preventing urinary tract infections common in women, and the various nutritional supplements made from cranberry, sold on the market as juice or tablet preparations, all have the effect of preventing urinary tract infections.

Proanthocyanidins are the terminator of E. coli:

Americans consume about 117 million pounds of cranberries each year, because it is one of the best weapons nature provides against cystitis and urinary tract infections.

Most people often assume that cranberry makes the urine more acidic, and thereby provides urinary tract health benefits. This is a big misunderstanding. Dietitian Ouyang Zhongmei of the Nutrition Department at National Taiwan University Hospital, China, stated that many related studies show that cranberry is effective because it can prevent germs from adhering to or attaching to the inner tissues of the urinary tract system.

Dietitian Ouyang further pointed out that Western women often use two traditional self-treatments against urinary tract infections (UTI). The first is the yogurt self-treatment that has long circulated on the market; it is generally believed that the good bacteria in yogurt can inhibit the growth of bad bacteria in the urinary tract. The other is the cranberry juice self-treatment that doctors mostly recommend.

The cranberry juice self-treatment is much more effective than the yogurt self-treatment for preventing urinary tract infections in women. In fact, research results also show that drinking yogurt has no effect at all on preventing recurrent urinary tract infections, so doctors generally also recommend that cranberry juice can become the best health supplement for women to prevent urinary tract infections.

Drink more water and hold urine less:

Of course, to prevent urinary tract infections, besides drinking more water and holding urine less in daily life, you might also try drinking more cranberry juice as a health aid. But urologists also say that cranberry juice must be used over the long term before there will be significant improvement.
