Hsieh Wei-yen is the largest cockroach breeder in all of Taiwan, China, cultivating nearly 2.7 million cockroaches at his farm in Taishan District, and has also bred a single golden cockroach priced at 5,000 yuan, earning him the title of Cockroach King.

He found that cockroaches have high market value and few people raise them, so he purposely went to Xindian to study, threw himself wholeheartedly into developing the cockroach farming industry, and became the largest cockroach breeder in Taiwan, China, earning at least 200,000 yuan a month.

In a space of less than 10 ping, the farm holds temperature-control equipment and incubators and other equipment, raising more than 2.7 million cockroaches. Besides the common Dubia cockroach and red runner cockroach, the species also include the Madagascar hissing cockroach, which resembles a beetle and sells for 300 yuan each. Hsieh Wei-yen has even bred the world's rare "golden cockroach."

Hsieh Wei-yen said the golden cockroach is simply an albino variety of the Dubia cockroach, extremely rare, and breeding one takes an average of 3 to 4 years. When he successfully bred his first golden cockroach, it was immediately bought by someone for 5,000 yuan.

He said that raising cockroaches is mainly about their specialized protein, which makes them an excellent choice for pet feed and gives them high market value; the ornamental Madagascar cockroach has a high unit price, and after breeding the albino Dubia variety himself, he also brought higher profits to the ornamental cockroach market.
