Method for cultivating orchids with fresh sawdust

The fresh sawdust orchid-growing method

As for the growing method with fresh sawdust, it is also roughly the same as the above; the fresh sawdust must first be treated by exposure to blazing sun. The bottom layer of the orchid pot should be lined with charcoal of China fir or pine (charcoal absorbs water, and when there is little water in the pot it can also release water, playing a role in regulating dryness and moisture); on top of that spread a layer of hair or coconut coir fiber (to prevent the sawdust from being washed away and lost). Place the orchid plant into the pot, arrange the roots well, fill with sawdust, then lift the pseudobulbs up to the pot rim, press the sawdust firmly, and continue filling until the area around the orchid's pseudobulbs is completely filled. Then pour on a 1/1000 solution of thiophanate-methyl as the "root-setting water," and planting is complete. As time passes, the hair and sawdust in the pot slowly transform into nutrients, promoting theorchid's growth. Afterward, water once every 10-15 days (or as circumstances dictate). According to the different seasons, regularly spray drugs such as thiophanate-methyl and carbendazim to prevent and controlpests and diseases, and at the same time a small amount of multi-element chemical fertilizer may be added for foliar feeding, which can achieve even better results.
