Orchid Blight Symptoms and Prevention and Control

The entire flower or inflorescence, especially the buds, is susceptible to infection. The infection appears as sunken dark brown to black lesions, often covered with white powder and small pink spores. Severe infection can cause flowers to turn yellow and drop at the bud stage. Prevention and control methods are: cut off diseased flowers. Spray with 80% zineb or 80% mancozeb wettable powder at 400-600 times dilution every 4-7 days. You can also spray and drench the soil with 50% carbendazim wettable powder at 500 times dilution. Note: The above condition can also infect leaves, known as Fusarium leaf spot, which presents as small spots, mostly seen on injured tissue. (Ge Weiwen)
