Mix growing media according to local conditions

During the National Day long holiday, orchid enthusiasts took the opportunity to repot their orchids one after another, and how to mix growing media became a practical issue of general concern. OrchidAlthough growing media come in all kinds, they fall into no more than two types, namely: modern granular growing media and traditionalorchidmud (humus soil) growing media. I believe good growing media must have three essentials: air permeability, moisture retention and complete nutrients. The advantages of granular growing media are good air permeability and water drainage, and being clean and hygienic, which is good for growing roots, but it lacks nutrients;orchidmud (humus soil) growing media have complete nutrients, but their air permeability and water drainage are poor and they are not clean and hygienic enough. The two kinds of growing media each have advantages and disadvantages, and used alone each has its limitations. Therefore, it is best to combine the traditional with the modern, mixing growing media according to local conditions, and blending granular growing media with sieved orchid mud (humus soil) at a ratio of one to one is best. What I use is a three-in-one mixed growing medium of scarab beetle grub droppings, sieved orchid mud (humus soil) and weathered stone (or river sand)growing orchidsand cultivating orchids, with good results. When mixing growing media themselves, orchid enthusiasts can, according to local actual conditions and in line with the principle of being scientific and practical, be flexible and not rigid.
