What different types of orchid houses (sheds) are there for growing orchids?

Several different types of orchid houses (sheds)

Orchid growers such as Hong Liming, Liao Chunshou, Zhang Hongzheng and others have already used them. Although the investment is somewhat larger, the seedling production rate is increased and the benefits are obvious. The common points are that the area should not be too large (15-20 sq m), and there should be facilities for regulating humidity, temperature, ventilation and even light. They are suitable for investment-oriented cultivation of high-grade new varieties and high-priced varietiesorchid growing. Take Hong Liming's (the earliest user) "three automatic controls" orchid house as an example: 6.3 m long, 3.3 m wide, 2.5 m high, built using the open space in front of a residential building. To the north there is a residence that can block the cold winter wind, the other three sides have windows, and the top is covered with imported double-layer clear tiles, sloping front and back for drainage, and also providing heat insulation and warmth retention. In the center of the room are two orchid benches 2.5 m x 2.4 m and 1.1 m high, with walkways left around them for working, and they can hold about 200 pots oforchids. The temperature is regulated by 4 induction electric heating rods, and the 4 heating rods are installed under the pots on the orchid benches, with the temperature controlled between 15 and 30°C. For humidification and ventilation equipment, there is one half-day mist humidifier, 4 exhaust fans, and 4 electric fans (installed on the wall). The humidity is controlled at 60%-80%, and ventilation is carried out immediately after humidification. All temperature, humidity and wind regulation is done through an automated distribution box, set manually and controlled automatically (finished automatic control boxes are now sold in Ningbo). Investment cost: the "three automatic controls" equipment is about 20,000 yuan, plusCymbidiumhouse about 5,000 yuan per sq m (excluding land costs). Usage: electricity consumption is somewhat greater, which increases theorchid growingcost, but earlyCymbidiumseedlings clearly sprout and send out shoots earlier, and it is entirely possible to produce 2-3 generations of growth in one year. As a way to grow high-grade orchids and increase the seedling production rate, it is entirely feasible. Production-type semi-open orchid site Wang Kejian's "Tianlong Pavilion" orchid garden is located along the shore of Tongling Reservoir, surrounded by mountains and shaded by green trees, with both forest regulation and water body protection, and the site is spacious, with a road leading to the garden. It is a very ideal production site. Twoorchidgrowing gardens were opened up on the original orchard. Within the semi-open (decorative window) enclosing wall on all sides, I-beam steel is used to build a shed 4 m high and 50 m long and wide, like a factory workshop, with the top covered with 1 cm thick glass to shelter from rain and snow, and the ground paved with coarse sand and pebbles, which can return moisture. Inside, more than ten rows of orchid benches 2 m wide can be placed, and several thousand pots oforchidscan be grown. Because the entire orchid site is semi-open, apart from covering with shade netting (1-2 layers) and using electric fans in summer, everything else relies on natural regulation. A water storage tank is built in a corner of the site, and water from the reservoir is pumped up and mixed in the tank with compound fertilizer (one part per thousand) or pesticides, and during the growing season fertilizer water is sprayed once every 5-7 days. Therefore, even in summer daytime the humidity is 50%-60%, and in the morning and evening it reaches 80%-90%. The superior conditions of fresh flowing air, relatively high humidity and frequent application of dilute fertilizer make the orchids grow very well, and the annual seedling production is also more than one and a half generations. Recreation-type simple orchid shed Non-investment, non-production household small-scaleorchid growingmostly belongs to recreation-type orchid growing, so the infrastructure investment is also adapted to local conditions and kept frugal and simple. There is neither the strict site selection requirement of the production type, nor huge investment in infrastructure. It is enough to use only a corner of a rooftop or balcony, or a corner beside the house, and set up some basic protective facilities, such as the orchid sheds of Shao Guoqi, Zhang Rijin, Sun Jianrong and others. Specifications: depending on the available site, at least 2 m wide, with no limit on length, and able to hold one orchid bench, for the purpose of growing a few dozen or up to a hundred pots of orchids. Equipment: use angle steel or water pipes as material, and against a building or standing alone enclose a rectangular or square protective frame, on which steel wire mesh is welded, with a gable roof or a single slope, covered with clear tiles or glass or wire mesh or plastic film. In summer use shade netting for shading, for humidification place water basins, spray water or install a humidifier, and temperature and light depend entirely on nature. Effectiveness: the simple shed has low investment (a few thousand yuan) and occupies little space, and is suitable for ordinary amateur orchid growers, especially salaried workers. Compared with directly setting up orchid growing in a balcony, small courtyard or garden, the environment is somewhat improved, so growth is also clearly better than ordinary orchid growing.
