Growth and cultivation experience of Chunlan 'Lüyun' (Cymbidium goeringii 'Lüyun') under natural cultivation, Qinxin Orchid Garden 166

Everyone says Lüyun is hard to grow, but that is not entirely true. Now let me briefly introduce it.

The small Lüyun seedlings planted the year before last send up one shoot each year. There is no greenhouse, only an open-air shed.

Before planting, I also put careful thought into the potting medium. A small pot, with medium-grade Ishiyama (Kanuma) stone filling one fifth of the pot height at the bottom, then four or five grains of Magic Fertilizer.

Everything above is small rice-grain-sized Ishiyama stone. Use it dry; after planting, just flush with water several times.

Precautions——

One, it is best to introduce the plants in the second half of the year, so diseases can be prevented during the transition period.

Two, the potting medium must be clean. It is recommended to useorchid growingspecial Ishiyama stone. Plain and clean.

Three, when placing Magic Fertilizer at the bottom of the pot, use a smaller amount, place it on top of the bottom stones, but do not let it directly touch the roots.

Four, shoots emerge late; do not rush to look for shoots and dig around the pot surface, to avoid damaging the shoots.

Five, do not fertilize at first; at the very least, apply a small amount of safe fertilizer after the new seedlings appear. Personally, I think Magic Fertilizer is best.

Six, at ordinary times follow the usual routine; when fungicide is sprayed throughout the whole garden, just let it wash over them. No special requirements.

I planted five clumps in total, and four clumps succeeded. On hot days with sun showers, pull the shade net. They endured the same hardship without serious problems.

Environment: the backyard of an old house, near a stream and against a mountain, with high ground to the north. Environments differ,balcony orchid growingand those who grow orchids by other methods should explore for themselves.
