Discussion of Virus Disease (Group 3, Part 2)

This is one seedlingwild-collected orchidof the phenomenon appearing on the leaves. After the 1998 Spring Festival, I picked it out at a large nursery of an orchid grower in Nankeng, Nanjing County, Fujian Province; his nursery had planted more than 10,000 seedlingswild-collected orchid, all collected from the nearby mountains. After taking it home, I raised it together with someorchidsI had collected at the time that I thought were "patterned variegation," and the new generation of this seedling whose leaves produced "variegation" showed obvious symptoms of virus disease. I remember the whole pot of flowers seemed to have died early last year; in any case, it is no longer alive now. (Zheng Yuhui)
