Nitrogen Fertilizer Application Guide

Chinese orchids (Cymbidium) should be supplied with different amounts and types of nitrogen fertilizers according to their growth stage and variety characteristics, to benefit their growth: (1) At division: Mix 1-2% fully fermented, sterilized, pathogen-free and pest-free organic fertilizer into the medium, or two weeks after dividing and planting, apply 1-2% of a long-lasting chemical fertilizer with higher nitrogen content, such as Orchid Health No. 2 long-lasting slow-release fertilizer, whose N, P, K content is 16-16-16 or 28-14-14, or Xiduolan organic fertilizer as a base fertilizer, to steadily and continuously supply the nutrients needed for Chinese orchid growth, so that there is no concern of lacking major nutrient elements during the growth process, and to promote the growth of Chinese orchids. (2) From early sprouting to the vegetative growth stage: At this time, Chinese orchids need a larger supply of nitrogen fertilizer to promote stem and leaf growth. Supplying a reasonable and appropriate amount of quick-acting fertilizer can promote chlorophyll synthesis, improve photosynthesis, increase growth rate, enlarge leaf area, and produce lush stems and leaves. Classified by chemical fertilizer, during the sprouting stage, a quick-acting fertilizer with N, P, K content of 20-20-20 can be applied at a dilution of one thousand to three thousand times, combined with the plant-based organic growth promoter Lan Gen Wang at 1000 times, or wood wax liquid at 600 times plus Ai Sheng Lan, amino acids, etc., once a week during the mid-nutrition period. In winter, when temperatures are low and light is weak, Chinese orchids grow slowly and require fewer nutrient elements, so the amount can be reduced appropriately. (3) From mid-vegetative growth to early pseudobulb enlargement: At this time, if too much nitrogen is supplied, it easily causes excessive vegetative growth and delays bulb maturation. A chemical fertilizer with N, P, K content of 15-30-15 can be used at a dilution of one thousand to one thousand five hundred times, combined with the organic growth promoter Lan Gen Wang at 800 times, or Xiduolan and Ai Sheng Lan with Lan Shijie Man Dian Shi Ba after activation, once every 7-10 days. Before flowering, use nighttime cooling and plant lights to extend the light duration, increase the nighttime light intensity and temperature of the orchid room, reduce the day-night temperature difference, suppress dormancy or semi-dormancy of Chinese orchids, appropriately increase nitrogen fertilizer application, prevent Chinese orchids from transitioning from vegetative growth to reproductive growth, promote lateral bud growth, increase the sprouting rate, and reduce the number of flowers. (4) From bulb enlargement to bulb maturation: If too much nitrogen is applied, it will cause delayed maturation of stems and leaves and small bulbs. At this time, a chemical fertilizer with N, P, K content of 15-15-30 should be used at a dilution of one thousand to two thousand times, combined with the natural growth-promoting enzyme "Shou Shang Hao" and the rooting promoter Lan Gen Wang at 800 times each, once a week. This can cultivate Chinese orchid plants with vigorous roots, thick stems and leaves, plump bulbs, a high sprouting rate, and an increased number of leaves.
