Analysis of the Physicochemical Properties of Coal Cinder

Inorchidcultivationpractice, through relatively large-scale 4 trials (each with more than 1000 pots), continuously summarizing, improving and enhancing, we believe that for large-area open-air pottedorchidcultivation, selecting the substrate particle size from the fourth trial and the two-layer planting method is feasible and successful. (1) Better physical properties Among the eight requirements for an idealorchidsubstrate, the two items of loose and breathable, and good drainage belong to physical properties, and the essential 0-10mm coal cinder is mainly composed of thoroughly burned grayish-brown particles, white powder, and carbides that have become emulsified under high-temperature baking; its characteristics are loose, non-sticky, and possessing honeycomb-like pores, with an aeration porosity of 38.1% and a water-holding capacity of 17%, fully meeting the growth requirements of orchids. (2) Better chemical composition The sampling test results of coal cinder are as follows: From the test results, it can be seen that, except for being deficient in nitrogen, coal cinder contains relatively complete other elements required for plant growth, especially with relatively high phosphorus and potassium content, making it a suitable orchid substrate. Orchids do not have a high demand for nitrogen, and nitrogen deficiency can be supplemented by artificial fertilization. In addition, for the coal cinder produced after combustion, the high temperature has already killed pathogenic spores, pests, and eggs. Li Zhongmin, Liu Jinrong
