Brás Discussion (Group 1, Part 3)

This is a pot ofCymbidium sinenseFugui, the photo was taken in February 1996, and the entire pot of flowers all died by early 1997. At the time, I was keen on collecting mosaic-pattern variegation, and I heard that those with peak-like shapes were "treasures" and generally relatively stable, so I spent almost 2000 yuan to buy it from an orchid dealer surnamed Cheng in Zhangpu County, Fujian Province. Its symptoms were that after the shoots emerged they did not continue to grow, as if stunted, then the old pseudobulbs kept collapsing, and the new shoots later turned yellow and black, and in the end I had no choice but to throw away the pot together with the soil. Figure 3 is a whole pot of Figure 1flower'sclose-up of the pattern on the rightmost new leaf (front-facing leaf) in the full view. (Zheng Yuhui)
