How to design good ventilation and air exhaust in an orchid growing site

Design of ventilation and air exhaust for orchid growing sites

Orchid growingSites are known as orchid rooms, orchid houses, and orchid gardens. Generally speaking, the site must match the growing habits and normal development of Chinese orchids. At minimum, the sunlight and heat during a day must reach more than four hours to meet the standard. Using only artificial light as a light source has little effect, but using artificial light as a supplementary enhancement is a correct concept and practice. Originally my orchid growing site was a balcony on the fourth floor, facing north-northeast, with 2 hours of sunlight each day. On Teacher Chen's suggestion, I moved the orchid room to the rooftop and built a semi-greenhouse orchid garden of about thirty-five ping. The following points should be noted in designing an orchid garden: 1. Let sunlight through and keep rain out: three sides must be ventilated and allow airflow, built with glass, for the purposes of rainproofing, windproofing, and insect proofing. 2. Heat prevention and exhaust: the roof is covered with light-transmitting transparent fiberglass corrugated panels, so sunlight is very abundant. On top of it, a two-layer heat-prevention and shading system is installed, and it is movable, which is very ideal, as it can be adjusted appropriately according to the day's weather. If the temperature is between 30°C and 25°C, then only the first layer of the shading system is covered; if the temperature rises above 30°C, then the double-layer shading system is activated, and the backup electric fan is also turned on to expel hot air, while misting to supplement humidity; with this complete setup, one can safely get through the scorching summer. If you have to go out for something, it is best to cover both layers completely so you can feel at ease. 3. Ventilation equipment: at a height of about 230 cm in the upper layer of the orchid room, a large exhaust and intake electric fan should be installed to fully expel the hot air that has accumulated from high places or the roof. When installing it, note that it must be aimed at the high window to discharge to the outdoors; in the lower layer, install an intake and exhaust electric fan, or a small blower, to fully achieveOrchidat the bottom layer below leaf height, an effective operation of collecting, circulating, and converting airflow. Generally speaking, when the temperature inside the orchid room is below 28°C, use the small electric fan in the bottom layer to deliver a gentle breeze; but if it reaches 30°C, all the double-layer fans must be used, and effective ventilation and air exchange must be achieved. 4. Temperature and humidity control: there are many ways water vapor is produced: A. When building the orchid garden, also set up a ground water pool; the shallower the water level, the greater the water vapor, because if the water level is very deep, the water temperature is low and cold and not easy to evaporate. B.Orchid growingThe larger the area of the site, the wider the area of the water pool, and the more abundant the water vapor; if the area is too narrow, then the water vapor will be insufficient. In this case, you can buy the finest mist sprayer to help with humidity. C. When the area of the orchid room is large and can be fully designed, if it is built a little higher, then daily management, heat and air exhaust, and air conditioning all need to be complete. When temperature, humidity, and air are abundant, the orchid rack can be raised to the standard viewingorchidat the appropriate angle, generally a height of 50 to 80 cm is most suitable. Not only can you naturally and comfortably admire your beloved flowers, but you can also make the airflow in the bottom layer smooth and unobstructed. Even a dead corner in the garden can achieve the maximum effect of accumulated airflow circulation. (Bu Jinzhen)
