How to provide proper lighting for orchids on a balcony? A list of precautions
Precautions for proper lighting when growing orchids on a balcony
Orchidsneed sunlight for photosynthesis, to produce nutrients, and to promote the development and growth of leaf buds and flower buds, so light is essential fororchids. Through comparative experiments, I found that several pots oforchidskept for a long time in a dark corner facing north had poor root growth, weak resistance, were prone to disease and death, and were not easy to bloom. Those placed in a sunny spot facing south grew robustly and bloomed easily. Therefore, light should be fully used to promote healthy growth of orchid seedlings. Especially in winter, the warming effect of sunlight should be brought into play even more, which helpsorchidsresist cold and survive the winter.
Although orchids need proper light, orchids are semi-shade plants and should not be exposed to direct sunlight during hot seasons. Therefore, shading and sun protection must be done well. You can plant vines to block the scorching sun, or use one to two layers of black shade netting or bamboo blinds to adjust the light, turning direct scorching sunlight into scattered light, so as to avoid scorching the orchid leaves and affecting growth.
