What does soilless cultivation mean
"Soilless Culture" can be translated as soillesscultivation, pollution-freecultivation, sterilecultivation. At present, it is very important to clarify the original meaning of "Soilless Culture", otherwise it will be very unfavorable to the development of the soilless cultivation industry. In short, "Soilless Culture" means sterile and disinfected cultivation. If its meaning is not understood, and horse manure, human feces and urine, peat, cottonseed hulls, sawdust and other humus are mistakenly used as substrate or nutrients, then that is wrong.
A. A. Steiner, president of the International Soilless Culture Association, clearly defined soilless cultivation as nutrient cultivation. These have long been widely used in the United States, Japan, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, China and Macao, China.
It can be expressed by the following equation:
Soilless Culture = Hydroponics
Soilless (sterile) cultivation = nutrient solution cultivation, and can be specifically divided into the following forms: 1. hydroponics; 2. aeroponics; 3. gravel culture; 4. sand culture; 5. vermiculite culture; 6. rockwool culture; 7. fluctuating fiber culture.
"Soilless Culture" (soilless, sterile cultivation) refers to a cultivation method that uses inorganic nutrient solution to directly provide plants with the nutrient elements necessary for growth, replacing the supply of nutrients to plants by soil and organic matter.
In soilless sterile cultivation, the nutrient solution can be sprayed directly onto the root system (aeroponics), or the plants can be directly inoculated in a flowing soilless nutrient solution (hydroponics); or sterilized microporous inorganic ore and inorganic fiber can be used as substrate, with nutrient solution used to directly cultivate plants. As for "vermiculite + horse manure", "sawdust + human feces and urine", and the like, these no longer belong to the scope of modern soilless cultivation technology.
