The key to caring for Chun Jian orchids is ventilation and air permeability
When growing Chun Jian orchids, pay attention to ventilation and air permeability
The orchid pot must be air-permeable; this is a piece oforchid growingexperience that no one has ever overlooked. But when growing Chun Jian orchids, one must also pay attention to ventilation. A few years ago, I grew a large number of common Chun Jian orchids in a forest planted with Amur cork tree (a woody Chinese medicinal material). At that time, because the tree canopy coverage was narrow and sunlight easily reached through, although the plants were fairly dense, regular disinfection and sterilization meant no disease ever occurred. But when the canopy grew enough to shade one another, sunlight decreased and the wind no longer passed through. Although disinfection work did not stop, and I used "carbendazim", "thiophanate-methyl", and "chlorothalonil" in rotation for regular sterilization, and even watered the roots with "zineb" and "dexon", every time it rained the leaves still suffered severe black spot disease andsoft rotdisease, and it had a fairly rapid infectivity, even causing entire leaves to rot, which was both laughable and heartbreaking. When I "awoke" from the pain, burned the diseased plants, and transplanted the healthy plants around the edges of the Amur cork tree forest, changing their living conditions to meet the requirement of "both diffused light shining and clear breeze brushing the leaves", the disease in the orchid plants was relatively reduced by more than 90%. Based on this, we promptly investigatedorchid growingventilation conditions: for orchid pots grown indoors with cross-ventilation windows, the orchid shelf should be level with the windowsill, and after the orchid pots are placed on the shelf they should be slightly higher than the window opening to ensure unobstructed air flow; in orchid rooms without cross-ventilation windows, during the period from "Minor Heat" to "End of Heat", a small fan should also be used regularly to create airflow, helping to cool the room, ventilate the orchid pots, and treat and prevent disease; for orchids planted in scattered plots in courtyards and households, and ground-planted orchids covered with vines, particular attention should be paid to reducing the influence of surrounding objects and trees on air circulation, creating a better temperature and humidity environment, shade environment, and ventilation environment for the orchid plants, so as to ensure that the orchid plants are disease-free or have few diseases.
