Growing orchids requires the courage to experiment; practice brings true knowledge
Growing orchids requires the courage to experiment
This autumn quite a few orchid friends visited my orchid shed, and they felt that myorchidsgrew very robustly and bloomed easily. In particular, an old Song Mei plant put out a new growth this spring. In autumn it unexpectedly produced two flower buds, and three Nanyang Mei plants also produced one flower bud each, while a pot of old Ran Zi produced four flower buds. They all asked me how I managed them. Through several years of exploration and summary, I believe that besides managing light, water, ventilation and potting medium well, you also need to be bold! That is, dare to fertilize, and dare to fertilize frequently.
Nowadays many peoplegrow orchidsand choose orchid stone for the potting medium, which makes root rot less likely, but orchid stone contains no nutrients at all. Many people are also very cautious when fertilizing and do not dare to apply much, so the plants grow passably, but they just do not bloom, and therefore it is hard to enjoy the flowers. Since 1997 I have broken with traditional fertilizing methods and fertilized boldly. Every spring after theorchidscome out of the house, I apply "Zhifa" once a week; after Xiaoman, I apply "Zhiquan" once a week; from the beginning of autumn, I apply "monopotassium phosphate" once a week. The concentration of all fertilizers is one third of the usual ratio (for example, if 1O00 times is required, I dilute it 3000 times), and it is generally applied as a foliar feed. In this wayorchid plantsnot only grow very robustly, but also bloom easily. Orchid friends who are bold might as well give it a try.
