Control of common orchid diseases

1. Anthracnose isorchidsmost likely to occur throughout the entire growth process, but it is most severe during the plum rain season. Temperature and humidity are important factors affecting the onset of the disease. Pathogens carried by plants and potting media, poor ventilation and lighting conditions, overly concentrated fertilizer application, cultivationand extensive management are the reasons for the onset and worsening of the disease. The pathogen overwinters on diseased plants as conidia and mycelium. After germination the following year, the pathogen infects the seedlings, and afterward produces large amounts of the pathogen on the diseased plants, spreading with wind and rain and insects, and infecting the stems and leaves again. After the seedlings are damaged, reddish-brown spots appear on the leaves and stems. In severe cases, the diseased parts turn black and die. (Chen Jisheng)
