Methods and Techniques for Cultivating Orchids with Manure
The Manure Orchid-Growing Method
Manure. The dung of grass-eating animals such as cattle, horses and sheep is used as the growing medium.
Generally it is mixed with wine lees, sand, bran and plant fiber materials, used forcultivationof various orchids, and is prized for being air-permeable, water-permeable and rich in nutrients. This kind of growing medium often induces the fungal disease southern blight, which is very dangerous, but it can be sterilized above 70°C, so expose it to the sun before use.
