Plastic pots

Plastic pots are lightweight and durable, not easily broken during long-distance transport, do not grow moss, and are inexpensive. Their drawbacks are that they do not absorb water and have poor aeration, so the planting method, growing medium and management all differ from those for unglazed clay pots. In particular, the growing medium should be loose, used in small amounts, with smooth drainage, and the watering schedule should be properly controlled. Plastic pots come in hard or soft types; soft pots are suitable for growing small seedlings or miniature orchids. The specifications of plastic pots are similar to those of unglazed clay pots, and at present, whether professional or amateurorchid growers, most use plastic pots. (Xue Congxian)
