How much does air humidity affect Chinese orchids?
The effect of air humidity on Chinese orchids
Although Chinese orchids belong to the terrestrial orchid group, their thick, stout, fleshy roots still give them some characteristics of epiphytic orchids. Duringcultivation, relatively high air humidity is an important factor for successfulcultivation. This is especially true for the rough-skinned types of Chinese orchids that have become more popular in recent years; high-humidity air can not only allow the variegation traits of their new growths to be fully expressed, but also improve efficiency. According to observations, a humidity of around 80% is best for the growth of Chinese orchids. If the air humidity is too high, seedlings and weak plants are prone to poor resistance and infection bypests and diseases, especially in greenhousecultivation, where more attention should be paid to timely ventilation and controlling air humidity.
