Characteristics and Main Uses of Longan Tree Bark

Longan tree bark is a traditional material for planting Chinese cymbidiums (Cymbidium spp.), and gives excellent results with flowering orchid types. It is rich in organic matter and provides excellent drainage, water retention and aeration. It can be mixed into potting media, but it decomposes easily, so it should be replaced with fresh material after more than 1 year. (Xue Congxian)
