Organic tea sales had been falling sharply due to pesticide residues from years ago. Recently, a plant doctor team has lent its support to organic Ruby tea, and the Mingjian tea industry is returning to the path of glory. Is this true? Let's take a look.

Mingjian Township is mostly made up of smallholder farms and has always taken pride in its tea, but unfortunately, several years ago an outbreak of pesticide residue incidents caused a great uproar, destroying domestic and international consumers' confidence in the Mingjian tea industry. After the incident, the Agriculture and Food Agency and the Nantou County Government conducted a comprehensive investigation and worked hard to improve conditions, hoping to wash away the stigma and lead the tea township back to its former glory. Amid the tremors of this wave of tea safety incidents, the only ones who managed to keep themselves out of harm's way were the organic tea farmers.

The Mingjian Township Farmers' Association, Ruicheng Tea Factory, the Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine of the Executive Yuan's Council of Agriculture, and the Plant Teaching Hospital of National Chung Hsing University co-hosted this organic tea industry demonstration and observation event. Yen Chen-feng, deputy director of the Plant Protection Division of the Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine, was invited to give a speech. On one hand, she affirmed the cooperation between farmers and the plant doctor team, and on the other hand, she encouraged the public to support agricultural products vetted by the plant doctor team, using actual purchases to support industry development.

Through setting up internship plant doctor guidance demonstration and observation, and deeply cultivating and guiding tea farmers on the ground, supplemented by field pest and disease monitoring, rational fertilization, and strategies for using friendly inputs, farmers are assisted in adopting more friendly management practices, improving quality and yield, and increasing the safety of agricultural products to protect the health of the people.
Organic agriculture will make new changes, so let us look forward to it together.
