Raw forest humus soil, a nutrient-rich natural premium soil
Nutrient-rich raw forest humus soil
Raw forest humus soil is formed over a long period from the decomposition of fallen leaves. Its characteristics are a loose structure that does not easily compact; rich nutrition and comprehensive fertilizing properties; a rare treasure that is also expensive, taken from nature, making seedlings strong and flowers abundant. Through years of accumulation, raw forest humus soil is dark in color, and some has even compacted into granules. In practice, its planting results are superior to conventional growing media.
Based on the characteristics of raw forest humus soil, the following aspects should be noted during cultivation and use:
First, combine it organically with other growing materials and use it reasonably. When potting, the growing medium should be coarse on top and fine below to ensure good drainage and aeration. The best matching materials are pond foundation stone, washed weathered sand, and aged rice hull charcoal, but it should not be used together with bark, immortal soil, sphagnum moss, sawdust, etc.
Second, before use it should be exposed to strong sunlight or disinfected with chemicals to removepests and diseases, so as to benefit the growth of orchid seedlings. Disinfecting chemicals include Kocide, Topsin, etc., and they can also be applied as a rooting water.
Third, the amount used should be small rather than large. The treated humus soil should first be sieved; if it is in granular form, the bottom of the pot can be filled with coarse hard growing materials such as crushed brick, volcanic stone, etc., and then the granular soil can be used directly for planting. The proportion of fine mud under the sieve mixed with other growing materials should not exceed one third.
Fourth, humus soil has comprehensive nutrients, and its fertilizing effect lasts more than three years, during which organic and inorganic fertilizers can be omitted, and management should focus on light, water, plant protection, and other aspects. (Lin Sen)
