Orchid Shed Design

OrchidsOrchids by nature love shady, well-ventilated places. Without proper shade, if left exposed to constant sunlight, their leaves turn yellow and rough; especially in hot seasons, the leaf tips are easily scorched, and the plants may even wither and die. For this reason, shade shed equipment must be installed. The construction of a shade shed can be determined by the size of the site and the surrounding environment. If it is a private garden with walls on all sides, a shed height of about 3 m is sufficient; in short, the main considerations are ventilation and light transmission. The materials used for the shade shed structure include thick moso bamboo or rot-resistant wood, as well as angle iron and cement posts. After assembly, shade curtains are placed on top of the shed; they can be woven according to the size and length of the frame, mostly made with palm thread, and can be formed as a single panel or multiple panels joined together. Reed curtains woven from straw rope cannot withstand sun and rain and are very undurable. If the rain shed area is small, bamboo strip curtains can also be used, but the cost is relatively high and not very economical. Curtains can be divided into two types, sparse and dense, according toorchidsand the light intensity required in different seasons. In spring and autumn, sparse curtains can be used, while during the hot midsummer period, dense curtains are used. In use, they can also be divided into two types: the flexible type and the rope-rolling type. In the former, the curtain is simply lifted and spread flat by hand or with a bamboo cup, and the two ends are temporarily tied with rope to secure them; before sunset, it is gathered into a round roll and left at one end of the shed top or carried back indoors to avoid night dew and rain, thereby extending the service life of the curtain, though the operation is rather troublesome. In the latter, first a thin bamboo pole is tied to each end of the curtain; one end is first fixed with thin rope to the coconut top crossbeam, and on the crossbeam at the other end, two pulleys are tied at a certain spacing. Then two thick palm ropes long enough to retract and release the curtain are respectively passed through the fixed pulleys, run along and around the curtain, and connected to the bamboo pole at the other end of the curtain. In this way, the curtain can be spread out and rolled up, used freely, flexibly and conveniently. Shade reed curtains, in addition to serving as daily shade, can also prevent dew damage at night in early spring and late autumn. In addition, beforeorchidflower buds are about to open, moderate sunlight exposure is required, otherwise the flower color will be dull, so it can also be used for care during the flowering period.
