Key Technical Points for Orchid Nursery Construction and Site Selection Management Methods
Orchid Nursery Construction
An orchid nursery is whereorchidsare cultivated andorchidsare temporarily kept after planting. It is generally attached to anorchidgreenhouse or near theorchids. Or it may be the location for orchid rooms, orchid sheds, tools, machinery, pesticides, fertilizers, etc.; at the same time it is also suitable for the temporary cultivation of orchids, with ventilation, lighting, heat preservation, etc., that must suit theorchids'requirements. The premises should be kept clean and disinfected with pesticide regularly. For workplaces shared with bonsai or other flowers, a thorough cleaning must be done once after work is finished each day.
When choosing the site for an orchid room, orchid shed and orchid nursery, location and orientation must be considered. The terrain should be relatively high, not low-lying, and not enclosed by tall buildings on all sides; it should be far from industrial pollution sources. Any place with nearby factories that produce harmful gases such as sulfur dioxide and hydrogen cyanide, as well as smoke and dust, is unsuitable for growing orchids. There must be an irrigation and drainage system. The orientation should face southeast and back onto the northwest. Facing southeast is favorable for morning light, while backing onto the northwest can block cold wind. The southeast side should be open and unobstructed; on the northwest side, if conditions permit, a protective forest belt may be planted, or there may be a building on the north side.
