Tissue Culture and Soilless Cultivation of Phalaenopsis

At present, the United States, Japan and European countries all use tissue culture to produce Phalaenopsis. Although its results are better than those of other orchids, it is still not ideal and further breakthroughs are still needed. At present, propagation is mainly carried out by dividing the rhizomes; the cut surfaces of the rhizomes are disinfected with potassium permanganate solution, then placed in test tubes for tissue culture, and afterwards grown with soillesscultivation. The growing medium is a mixture of American igneous rock, osmundine and crushed charcoal; the plants are grown under shade and sprayed at the proper time with soillesscultivationnutrient solution until they grow successfully.
