What soil should be used for growing orchids? Special active soil for Chinese orchids
Special active soil for Chinese orchids
1. Characteristics of active soil
1. High aeration, good water retention.
2. Purifies water quality, eliminates harmful toxins.
3. Cultivatesorchid-growingbacteria, prevents orchid plant disease.
4. Prevents acidification of planting material, increases sprouting rate.
5. Promotes the occurrence and evolution of orchid mutations.
6. Active soil composition table
2. How to use active soil
1. Fine-leaf orchid types (Cymbidium goeringii、Cymbidium kanran):
Coarse-grained mountain soil 30%, fine-grained mountain soil 20%, orchid stone (orchidite, crushed brick, Tangshan stone, weathered stone, etc.) 35%, charcoal bits 12%, active soil 3%; mix all planting materials thoroughly before use. Taking a four-inch orchid pot as an example, each pot needs only about 5 grams of active soil.
2. Fine-leaf orchid types (Cymbidium ensifolium, Chun Jian,Lianban orchid):
Coarse-grained mountain soil 25%, fine-grained mountain soil 15%, orchid stone 30%, tree fern fiber 15%, charcoal bits 10%, active soil 5%; mix all planting materials thoroughly before use.
3. Broad-leaf orchid types (Cymbidium sinense):
Coarse-grained mountain soil 25%, fine-grained mountain soil 10%, orchid stone 30%, tree fern fiber 20%, charcoal bits 10%, active soil 5%; mix all planting materials thoroughly before use.
4. The use of active soil places the greatest emphasis on ventilation; its management method is no different from generalorchidmanagement. If a thin organic fertilizer (diluted 3000-5000 times) is occasionally applied, the effect will be even more pronounced; the replacement period is about once a year. If replaced once every six months, it significantly benefits theorchidsprouting rate.
